 | Chilcot Inquiry |
 |
The Government did everything possible to delay this inquiry. Thanks to the pressure in Parliament led by the Conservatives this is now taking place and it is taking place in public. Tony Blair’s appearance is a crucial moment. Whether people supported the war or opposed it, it is important that the following questions are answered:
1. Did he commit the country to war before he had the agreement of Cabinet and the Government?
2. Were essential military preparations delayed for political reasons?
3. Why did the Cabinet not work together on a coherent plan for the invasion and the aftermath of military operations?
4. Did he think carefully about the legal advice he received and did he accurately present it to the Cabinet and Parliament?
5. Did he accurately portray to Parliament the strength of the intelligence related to Iraq’s alleged possession of WMD?
