Moving towards full employment

Employment is at an all-time high.

New figures from the Office for National Statistics show that there are over 2 million more people in work since 2010. That’s over 2 million people with the security of a wage to provide for themselves and their families. (Source: ONS, 13/05/15)

These figures also show:

  1. Unemployment down by almost 700,000 since 2010 – its lowest level for seven years
  2. The number of young people without a job fell by 140,000 over the last year – with more opportunities for young people to get on in life
  3. 80% of jobs created in the last year have been full-time – showing that the majority of new jobs are secure and long-term
  4. Over two-thirds of new employment over the last year has been outside London and the South East – showing that this is recovery for the whole country

Our plan is working and over the next five years we’re committed to building a Britain of full employment, where everyone who wants a job can get one.

That’s why we’ll keep the plan going to help create even more jobs and secure a brighter future for you, your family and our country.
